20 Time Status 5/12

Image
Since the last check-in for the 20 Time Project, I've only been able to write the intermission in between the first phase and the second phase. I was also able to start Chapter 8 as well, but I haven't gotten too far into that; only a page. As of what still needs to be done is about 2 more phases: the one I'm currently working on and then one after that. If I'm thinking correctly, though, there should probably be about 300+ pages needed for the rest of the book seen that I'm on about page 100 of the book.

Project Status 5/15

Over the past few weeks since the last check in, I haven't made as much progress as I had hoped nor anticipated. I've only written two more chapters (6 and 7) which ended the first phase of the book. It wasn't going to be a long phase because it was a continuation of the first book's final phase. So far, I am potentially on track to meet 130 pages to be written. There is still a lot that needs to be done with this book and I'm still nowhere near completion of it. Overall, I think that my project could take me another 8-12 months to complete at least. But on the bright side, I have accomplished a good amount though.

Project Status 4/15

I've made some partial progress with my project since the last time. Since then, I've managed to accomplish writing two chapters. Chapter 4 was a rather long one so it took me quite an amount of time to write. Now I have brought the page count from 32 from the last time I had stopped to, where I have reached today, page 70. Overall, though, I haven't made too much headway into my project compared to what I was hoping to accomplish by the end of the school year, but I think I can at least get a decent amount of the book done. My goal is to at least get 150 pages in by the end of the school year because there is no way I'm going to finish this entire thing by then. I haven't even reached the point in the story that it's going to be named after, so it doesn't seem like I'm going to be near finishing it anytime soon. In order for my original goal to be met, I would have to work my butt off everyday for at least ten hours each day to meet that goal because of...

20 Time Update 3/31/20

Image
Over the past week I've managed to get about two more chapters in which it takes me to having just finished Chapter 3. I plan to start working on the fourth chapter for the next week or so because it might be a little bit longer than I had anticipated. So far in total I have written a prologue and three chapters and have brought myself to page 32.

Where My 20 Time Is At

For my project, I have so far completed ten pages and decided to write a sequel to the other novel I had finished prior to this project. So for what remains of me to do for May, I need to crack down on it and start writing some more if I want to get it accomplished. I think that what I need to do is give myself a set amount of pages I need to write a day. From there, I think I can get a pretty big chunk of it done. My project hasn't really been impacted by COVID-19 other than just me losing a bit of interest in it, but I've done my best to stay focused and do some of it. So because of this, I've kind of just had to put myself in more of a focused mood where I sit alone and listen to music while writing to actually get things done.

Project Overview/Elevator Pitch

1) Problem Statement - My problem is focused on more of a personal level. I'm not the greatest at writing so with this project I hope to fix this problem and learn to write better. 2) It Gets Worse - If I failed to solve this problem, becoming an author in the future could not happen then. In order to be a successful author, I have to know how to write to the best of my ability and make everything in a story flow. But, if I'm unable to fix this, I could potentially get rejected from publishers when I want my book to get out there. 3) Glimmer of Hope - My hopes for this project is that I can see how I can reword things and make the story better. While I'm writing it, I think I might look at some writing tips on the internet ti further help me solve my problem. 4) The Novel Situation - My idea can help me become a writer because it goes along with the saying, "Practice makes perfect." By practicing my writing my skills with this novel, I can hopefully see impr...

20 Time Project: Novel

Needs & Opportunities I'm looking to experience what it's like to write a book and potentially finish it. If I do happen to finish it before the TED talk I have to do on this project, I might try to get it published. Through this I want to be able to become a better writer and hopefully learn from my mistakes in old writing. Audience / Clients / Users My project is going to be more self-directed rather than targeted towards other people. Through this experience I expect to be enriched by becoming better at writing and fix some of the bland writing styles I often tend to use. Timeline By March 15, I will hope to be five chapters into the book. By April 15, I will hope to be halfway or 2/3 of the way done the book. By May 15, I will hope to be nearly or completely finished with the book. Product / End Result My final product will hopefully be a fully completed book or at least nearly completed book. My hopes for the final product is an actual published book, but t...
